The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a bachelor’s degree in the field of medicine. A person with an MBBS degree becomes a certified physician. Graduation takes 5.5 years to complete, including a one-year rotating internship at hospitals, health centres, and health camps organized by non-profit organizations. The MBBS course covers the study of human anatomy, human cytology, medicine, chemistry, pharmacy, drug formulation and action, and surgical method. The MBBS is one of the most requested courses after grade 12 (natural sciences) in the field of medicine.

Criteria for getting into a medical college in Uttar Pradesh:

To be admitted to MBBS courses at medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh, candidates must have passed 12th grade science. Some of the eligibility criteria for entry to MBBS colleges at UP are as follows: 

Candidates must have passed grade 12 in science subjects that is Physics, Chemistry and Zoology / Botany with English as one of the main subject. Must be 17 years of age at the time of admission. NEET qualifying exam is required for admission to MBBS course.

The Banaras Hindu University (BHU): Formerly known as Central Hindu College is located in Varanasi and has been accredited with Grade “A” by the NAAC. It was founded in 1916 by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya.

BHU is a central university that serves as an attractive study destination for students from the northern, southern and even eastern regions of India. The university has many students from the USA, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and many other countries.

King’s George Medical University (KGMU): is one of the most prestigious medical institutes in North India. The university is located in the heart of the state of Uttar Pradesh – Lucknow. The university was founded in 1911 and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Medical Council of India (MCI).

Aligarh Muslim University: Founded in 1920 by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is one of the best universities in India with an NIRF ranking of 17 in the University category. Furthermore, the AMU has achieved its place in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2020. AMU is ranked 89th nationally. 

AMU offers UG, PG, Diploma and PhD programs in the fields of art, science, commerce, etc. Admission to the MBBS program is based on the NEET exam score and registration for the same  as in the Medical Council of India. Applicants can apply online to the university for the entrance exam. 

Era’s Lucknow Medical College And Hospital, Lucknow: Era Educational Trust (EET) was established in 2001 with the approval of the Medical Council of India (MCI), the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Government of India, and was recognized in 2006. 

Institute of medical science: It is one of the known colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Admission to the MBBS and BSc Nursing is based on the NEET UG. 

IMS is one of the six institutes of the Hindu University of Banaras in Varanasi. Established in 1960, the Institute of Medical Sciences is the medical school of the  Hindu University of Banaras and has three faculties that are in Medicine, Ayurveda and Dental Sciences. 

Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMSIMS): It is situated in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, was founded in 2002. SRMSIMS offers MBBS, MD, MS, Diploma and Certificate courses to its students. Candidates applying for admission to the MBBS must have at least 40% of the points for SC / ST / OBC and 50% of the points for the general category in Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Biotechnology (PCB). 

Jawaharlal Nehru College of Medicine: It is often referred to as JNMC, is a constituent college of the Aligarh Muslim University. The university offers an MBBS program, 22 graduate degrees and 9 doctoral programs. It has a capacity of 150 for undergraduate students and 146 for graduate students. Admission to courses is based on NEET UG and PG exams; an admission test is carried out for the PhD courses. College and university are highly ranked and appear in NIRF, Outlook-ICare, THE, QS rankings and many more.
