MBBS course is a high in demand course in India, there are some 76,000 odd seats available all over India.
For MBBS there is one fixed entrance exam conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) which is called NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test). Students who aspire to pursue a MBBS course need to give the NEET entrance exam compulsorily. Without appearing for the NEET examination no candidate will get an admission in any undergraduate medical course in India.
The results are declared by NTA on their official website. After the results are declared, a mandatory counselling session is kept in every state. First a nationwide counselling is organized where only 15% of the whole seats are allotted to students who scored the desired marks. After which 85% of the seats remain with every state for the medical colleges located there. Which means that when Kerala counselling is organized 85% seats are to be allotted to medical aspirants who are residents of Kerala. In the counselling session the seats are offered to students on two criteria.
1st is on the basis of colleges listed by students as their preferred college and 2nd the rank scored by them in NEET entrance exam.
Once they get their preferred college the candidate needs to fulfill further formalities and they secure their admission in the college for which they have been allotted the seat.

MBBS, candidates must appear and achieve a valid score for the NEET UG admissions conducted by the National Examination Academy (NTA). To enroll in MD / MS candidates must appear and achieve a valid score for the NEET PG admissions conducted by the National Examination Academy (NTA). Candidates must also register for NEET counselling at the state level.
