NEET Exam

The NEET exam, short for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, is a highly competitive standardized entrance examination in India for students who aspire to pursue undergraduate medical and dental courses. It is conducted annually by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and serves as a gateway to admission to various medical and dental colleges across India.

The NEET exam is a single-window entrance test for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses in all medical colleges recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Dental Council of India (DCI), except for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry. It is also a qualifying examination for students who wish to pursue higher medical studies abroad.

The NEET exam is conducted in offline mode, with pen and paper-based format. It comprises three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Each section carries 180 marks, making a total of 540 marks. The exam duration is three hours, and the language of the question paper is English and Hindi.

To be eligible to appear for the NEET exam, candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as mandatory subjects. They must also meet the age and nationality criteria set by the NTA. The application process for the NEET exam generally begins in December, and the exam is typically held in May.

The exam is highly competitive, with millions of students appearing for it each year. To secure admission in a reputable medical or dental college, candidates need to score high marks in the exam. The results of the NEET exam are usually declared within a few weeks after the exam, and admission procedures in various colleges begin shortly after.
