A conceptual undergraduate programme in Chemical Engineering has been launched at the renowned engineering institution IIT Indore in India. This four-year BTech programme, which will start in the academic year 2023–2024, responds to the growing demand for chemical engineers across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, oil & gas, and pharmaceuticals. In order to prepare students for successful employment, the curriculum focuses on instilling thorough understanding of engineering principles, fostering problem-solving skills, and offering hands-on experience. IIT Indore is one of the 16 other IITs in India, along with IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Kharagpur. It offers a BTech program in Chemical Engineering. This is a full-time, four-year college degree program that is divided into eight semesters. Each semester, students take around 6 to 7 subjects, which includes elective courses.

To get admission into the BTech program at IIT Indore, students need to appear for the JEE Advanced 2023 exam, and their results will determine if they are eligible for the Chemical Engineering program. Additionally, candidates must have passed their class 12 (or equivalent) exams from a recognized state or central board.

The Chemical Engineering program at IIT Indore provides a comprehensive curriculum that covers important subjects like chemical engineering fundamentals, mathematics, physics, and chemistry. Students can also choose elective courses in specialized areas such as process engineering, materials science, numerical methods, and data analysis.

Practical learning is given high priority in the program. Students engage in laboratory work, design projects, and industrial visits to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world situations. The program is supported by modern laboratories and facilities, which enhance the overall learning and research experience for students at IIT Indore.
