Himachal Pradesh is a state that does not have that much number of medical colleges but the ones that are present are one of the top ranked colleges in India. Following are the names of medical colleges in Himachal Pradesh that will build your future in the medical field. 

1.IGMC, Shimla – Indira Gandhi Medical College: It is ranked 19th among other medical colleges. Indira Gandhi Medical College formerly the Himachal Pradesh Medical College , formerly known as Snowdown, located in Snowdown area of Lakkar Bazaar, is a state-owned medical college and hospital in Shimla in the state of Himachal Pradesh in India. It was established in 1966 i.e. 55 years ago. The Department of Radiotherapy & Oncology of this institution is an approved Regional Cancer Centre of India. 

2.Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda : It’s ranked 50th among other medical colleges in India. Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College (DRPGMC) is a government medical college and hospital located in district Kangra of Himachal Pradesh. Established in 1996.The college was recognised by Medical Council of India provisionally on 24 February 2005 and received permanent recognition in January 2010.

3.Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College, Mandi: The college was established in 2009. Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College & Hospital Mandi is a medical college located in Ner Chowk, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India. Established in 2009.The college is well furnished and provides top notch education in the medical field. 

4.Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur: Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College is a full-fledged tertiary Medical college in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. It was established in the year 2018. The college imparts the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). Nursing and para-medical courses are also offered. 5.Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College and Hospital, Chamba: Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru is a Government Medical College and Hospital, Chamba. Located in Chamba district it was upgraded to a Medical College in 2017. Chamba Medical College undertakes the education and training of students MBBS courses0. The current strength of the MBBS students is 400-500.

6.Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan: The college was established in 2016 and current undergraduates are 540 in the college. It provides excellent education to the budding doctors in the state.

•ADMISSION VIA:

Admissions in medical courses will be provided on the basis of the NEET exam. NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test) is a national level entrance exam conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency) for admissions in MBBS & BDS courses across the country. Seats in the MBBS or BDS courses will be offered on the basis of marks scored by the candidates in the NEET exam.

•Eligibility criteria:

Given below criteria’s are required to sit in the NEET exam in order to get admission in the colleges:

Candidate should be a citizen of India.

OCI, PIO, NRI and Foreign Nationals candidates are also eligible to apply.

The minimum age to apply should be 17 years as on 31st December in the year of admission.

The maximum age is 25 years and 30 years for SC/ST candidates.

Candidates should pass the Intermediate or its equivalent examination with PCB and English subject from any recognized board.

Candidates studying in 12th class can also apply.

The candidate should obtain 50% minimum marks (40% for reserve category candidates) and 45% for PH candidates in the qualifying exam.
