1.GMCH Guwahati – The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, the second medical college to be established in Assam, was established 20 September 1960. It is ranked 30 among the medical colleges in India. The university offers a MBBS degree, which includes a one-year internship. It also offers both degree MD/MS and Diploma postgraduate medical courses. You need to perform very well in NEET in order to get a seat in such a prestigious college.

2.Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Silchar:  Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), established in 1968, is a government-run medical college cum hospital. It’s one of the oldest medical colleges of North East India. It is ranked 55 among the medical colleges in India. It offers a graduation course i.e. MBBS, post graduation courses. Diploma Courses in Pharmacy, Laboratory Technician Course, Radiography Training, B.Sc Nursing course. 3.Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh :  It was the first medical college in Assam. The college provides undergraduate and postgraduate education in: Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Orthopaedics Cardiology etc. It was established on 3 November 1947. The principal of the college is Sanjeev kakati. The campus is of 450 acres. It’s one of the most known medical colleges in Assam. It requires your consistent efforts to get into college.

4.Jorhat Medical College, Jorhat : This is the fourth medical college of the state and it provides healthcare. It was established in 12 October 2009. Affiliated by  Sri manta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Medical Council of India. The college provides undergraduate as well as post graduate Courses in which the seats are as mentioned below. 

General Medicine: 10 seats, General Surgery: 10 seats, Orthopedics: 8 seats, Paediatrics: 8 seats, Radiology: 5 seats, Anaesthesia: 10 seats,  Ent: 5 seats, Ophthalmology: 5 seats, Other PG seats in Non-clinical departments. The college has a name of its own and provides best health care facility in the state.

5.Tezpur Medical College, Tezpur: Tezpur Medical College and Hospital (TMCH) is a medical college based in Tezpur, Assam, India established in 2013. This college is the 6th medical college of the State Government. The college provides undergraduate course of MBBS and every year 125 students enroll the campus and become a part of the amazing medical fraternity. 

6.Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta:  

Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital is the fifth medical college of Assam based in Barpeta. The college has been named after former President of India Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed. The college was established in 2011. The college provided undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses. Every year 125 students enroll in the MBBS course. The Institute provides the best education to the upcoming future of the country. Work hard to get yourself into this government medical college.

•ADMISSION VIA:

Admissions in medical courses will be provided on the basis of the NEET exam. NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test) is a national level entrance exam conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency) for admissions in MBBS & BDS courses across the country. Seats in the MBBS or BDS courses will be offered on the basis of marks scored by the candidates in the NEET exam.

•Eligibility criteria:

Given below criteria’s are required to sit in the NEET exam in order to get admission in the colleges:

Candidate should be a citizen of India.

OCI, PIO, NRI and Foreign Nationals candidates are also eligible to apply.

The minimum age to apply should be 17 years as on 31st December in the year of admission.

The maximum age is 25 years and 30 years for SC/ST candidates.

Candidates should pass the Intermediate or its equivalent examination with PCB and English subject from any recognized board.

Candidates studying in 12th class can also apply.

The candidate should obtain 50% minimum marks (40% for reserve category candidates) and 45% for PH candidates in the qualifying exam.
