boy, book, reading

Retaining whatever you studied is one of the most crucial things for success in JEE/NEET. Through their preparation, students learn a lot of concepts, formulas, tricks, etc., but what’s most crucial is what they can retain and utilize in the examination hall. Retaining whatever you have learned is also a tremendous morale booster; recalling things faster helps you solve questions quicker and get the luxury of revising your answers. In this article, we will discuss various tips which students can adopt to develop better memory retention-

  • Read the material thoroughly

To memorize anything, you need to read it thoroughly first. So, read your notes, NCERTs, and coaching material very sincerely with complete focus. A line-to-line reading helps our minds connect the dots quickly and understand the subject matter.

While reading, you should mark out the keywords and revise those keywords regularly to keep the subject fresh in your memory.

  • Revision, revision, and revision

Students have to learn and remember a lot of subjects for JEE/NEET. To keep the memories of even the minutest details on topics is to revise them regularly. You should have a weekly and monthly revision plan.

For mathematics, practice is revision. You can choose a set of questions on each topic covering almost all the concepts related to that topic and practice that question set regularly to keep the memory intact.

Longer gaps in revision should always be avoided. Further, it’s preferable to read your class notes on a daily basis to make the most out of classes.

  • Reading things loud

Some students can better remember things that they hear rather than what they read. So if it suits you well, then definitely go ahead with this trick.

  • Write whatever you have studied.

This trick is especially useful for board exams. Students can remember formulas better if they revise them by writing. Moreover, students should make good short notes or mind maps; they are a pain in the beginning but a boon when you revise your subjects.

  • Don’t go on material shopping.

Students often go on material shopping and buy lots of books. But it’s better that you stick to NCERTs, class notes, PYQs, and coaching material. Once you have completed them, revise them instead of burdening yourself with new books. So, don’t overburden your memory for successfully preparing for JEE/NEET.

You can better remember your subjects with the above study tips for JEE/NEET. Nothing is impossible in the world, and worrying because you cannot recall what you read will not be an issue. You need to change your study pattern and try the above-given suggestions. It may take some time, but revision and short notes will always help you.

The road to success and failure is said to be the same. What makes the difference is an individual’s attitude. Lakhs of students prepare for the JEE/NEET every year, but only a few of them make it to their desired colleges, so the competition is tough, and you have to prepare well to score high.
