NEET or National eligibility cum entrance test is an examination that every aspirant seeking admission to a medical college must go through. It is a vital examination for all the aspirants who wish to pursue a career in the field of MBBS or BDS. NTA (National Testing Agency) will be the new conducting body of the examinations and all the announcements regarding the exam will be made by them. This article will provide you with the information that every NEET aspirant must have.

Eligibility Criteria

Just like any other exam, NEET 2021 also has its own eligibility criteria prescribed by NTA that a student must satisfy so as to appear for the exam. In order to be eligible for NEET 2021, a candidate must qualify his/her senior secondary education with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology along with the optional subjects. The candidates who are already in their 12th standard or equivalent can also apply for the examination. However, they will have to present their passing certificate with the required percentage at the time of admission. Minimum qualifying percentage and eligibility for the exam is mentioned in the table below.

  • The upper age limit for General category candidate is 25 years
  • The upper age limit for SC/ST/OBC candidates and PwD candidates is 30 years.

Marking Score pattern

As per NTA, NEET 2021 will be of 720 marks in total distributed across 4 sections i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, and Botany. Zoology and Botany combined makes Biology.

There will be negative marking with every wrong answer. 

Required Documents

Candidates must make sure that they have carried all the documents that are required while appearing for the exam. One of the basic documents among these is NEET Admit card, without which one might not be allowed to take the exam. A passport size photograph should be pasted on the admit card. Along with this, some passport sized photographs must be carried which might be required for pasting in the attendance sheet. Apart from these some other documents might also need to be carried due to the pandemic which will be notified to all the candidates by NTA.

General Rules that one must be aware of 

  • Candidates personal belongings will not be taken care of by the exam centres. Therefore, he/she must do its own arrangement for depositing their bags and goods carried. 
  • Proper dress code as advised by NTA must be followed while appearing for the exam. Candidates are advised to avoid wearing and metal substances during the exam.
  • Once entered in the exam hall, candidate must confirm that the roll number mentioned on his/her seat matches with the one at their admit card.
