NTA has already released the results of NEET 2021 examination and the qualified aspirants are waiting for the counselling process to begin. The Medical Council Committee on behalf of DGHS is expected to begin the counselling process in the 4th week of November. Candidates who have secured good ranks can start preparing themselves for the counselling process by shortlisting their choices. Initially, the counselling will begin for the All India Quota seats in various medical colleges of the country. MCC will soon release the schedule of the counselling process on its official website. Apart from this, the counselling for remaining 85 percent seats of state colleges would be conducted by the state authorities. Students must be aware that the counselling process includes registration, payment of counselling fee, choice filling, locking of choices, allotment of seats, and reporting at college.

The AIQ seats includes the following: 

  1. 15 percent MBBS / BDS seats of states
  2. 100 percent seats of BHU
  3. 100 percent seats of all AIIMS
  4. AIQ seats of JIPMER, ESIC, AMU/DU/VMMC/ABVIMS and Faculty of Dentistry (AMU)

NEET Counselling Eligibility and documents required

Candidates who have obtained higher than qualifying marks of their respective categories will be eligible to take part in the counselling process. Students can go through the detailed advertisement to know about the seat matrix i.e. seats in various colleges.

Students who are eligible and interested to take part in counselling process are required to keep the following documents with them:

  1. Admit Card of NEET
  2. Scorecard of NEET
  3. Class X and XII marksheets
  4. Valid Identity Proof
  5. Passport Size Photographs
  6. Seat Allotment Letter (Post seat allocation)
  7. PwD or Caste certificate (if applicable)

Step by step process of NEET Counselling:

  1. Registration: Eligible candidates are required to register at mcc.nic.in. They have to fill their NEET roll number, registration number, name, and date of birth. The next step is to pay the NEET counselling fee and security fee.
  2. Choice filling for NEET counselling: Students are required to fill their choices in order of preference. This is a very critical step and students are advised to see past data and trends of rank and colleges while making their decisions.
  3. NEET Seat Allotment: Once the choice filling process is complete, a seat would be alloted to the student. He or she may login and download the seat allotment letter. In first round, free exit is available whereas in the second round exit with forfeiture is allowed
  4. Reporting to Allotted College:  Students have to report to the designated college to complete the admission formalities. 

Students are advised to carefully go through the counselling notification once it becomes available and be cautious during the counselling process.
