The NEET 2023 exam is expected to be held in the 1st week of May 2023 and many of the students must have started preparing for the most coveted medical entrance of the country. With more than 15 lakh candidates every year, NEET has become one of the most competitive exams in the country. To crack such an exam, it requires dedicated preparation with the right strategy. In this article, we are sharing a few tips that will be helpful in having the right approach for NEET preparation.
Before beginning anything, the most important thing is to understand the NEET exam pattern, syllabus, the type of questions asked in exams etc. and then make a strategic plan and follow it. Some of the key things that students should always be aware while preparing for NEET are:
Students are advised to always have a study timetable and try to follow it regularly throughout the year. This timetable should be realistic so that the execution of strategy can also be done. Students are advised to be strict in following it but flexible in changing it depending on the situation and strength and weaknesses of students. An ideal timetable includes proper division of time among all subjects and also time spent on homework, theory, and also revision which is one of the keys to success in any exam.
Remember all the subjects are equally important in the exam and never neglect the one you don’t like. This situation does arise many times in preparation where students devote too much time to a subject that they enjoy doing which hampers overall preparation. An ideal student shall allocate time depending on the demand of the concerned topic, its importance and his own strengths and weaknesses. There are some topics which have been consistently given more weightage, so make a proper strategy to master those topics. Practice as many questions as possible from these topics and be confident of not missing any question from these topics if they again come up in your exam or mock tests. Also, never neglect any topic as the questions can be asked from any section failing the previous trends.
Always assess your studies by giving mock tests and analyzing the results. Know the mistakes you have committed and never try to repeat them. Make proper strategies before attempting any test and re-plan if required after analyzing the mock tests as you will figure out many things after analysing the test papers. This is one of the crucial parts of preparation which many aspirants realise at a very later stage of preparation. Try to develop this habit of analysing tests and improve yourself in each mock test so that the best version of you will be present in the final exam. You can also take FREE mock tests on Abhyas.
Students are advised to have a subject-wise plan as all three have different kinds of questions and require a different approach. Studying inorganic chemistry will be different from mastering concepts of physics and so on. Therefore, having a subject-wise strategy would be necessary to excel in the NEET exam. Revision should be a continuous part of your preparation. Keep revising from time to time if you don’t want to lose hold of a topic. Also, students are advised to solve previous years question papers of NEET or AIPMT while they are studying newer topics so that they will have proper understanding of the kind of questions asked in the actual exam. Also, students are advised to prepare a formula notebook where they can write down important formulas, concept so that they can quickly revise whenever required.
Apart from this, it is advised to be consistent in preparation and never feel extreme pressure. Just try to do your best. Also take care of your health and never allow yourself to fall sick as it can affect your result and all hard work would go in vain due to this.
