“What differentiates an average restaurant from a high end restaurant is the effort the latter puts in the presentation/plating”. In JEE Mains Preparation, the plating is our revision. Sadly, most students do not get it right the first time due to several reasons like lack of strategy, lack of planning or last moment panicking. Here are some guidelines that I would like to give you’ll for a more effective revision. Also, I prefer giving guidelines rather than laying out a proper plan because I feel that a plan is a very rigid thing and varies highly from student to student. It should be designed by the student himself, after self-evaluating various parameters in his preparation and stick to it.

  1. Full Syllabus Mocks

A deadly mistake that everyone makes is “pehle poora syllabus revise karta hu fir mocks likhunga”. Rather, the correct way to do is I’ll keep revising the syllabus and simultaneously write 1 to 2 mocks every week and see how I’m growing week by week. Remember, chasing perfection takes you nowhere while chasing growth takes you to perfection.

  • How should I Revise the Content?

Lot of people are going to tell you to read all those notes that you made over the span of 2 years. For me personally, it is a nightmare to go through a thick pile of books. That is the primary reason for last moment panicking for most of the students. Moreover, you will be wasting a good chunk of your time on irrelevant content and your practice time will have to go down as well. A better approach here is to join a short-term revision course that provides you with exam-oriented content to revise with. A good recommendation I can make here is PracBee. PracBee provides a unique one-to-one tutoring and personal mentorship service from the best IITian Faculties, so you can stay assured of the best revision content and guidance and easily avoid those last minute panic situations.

  • What Should a Day in My Life Look like?

You should already have it the things you do in that particular day pre-planned, to avoid wasting any of your time. Your plan for everyday must include a perfect blend of theory, practice and NCERT reading sessions. Also, try to study at least 2 subjects (if not three) every day to avoid mental fatigue due to monotonicity. Also, as discussed earlier once/twice in a week attempt Previous Year Papers or Mock Tests and spend appropriate time in analysing and working on your mistakes as well.

  •  The D-Day Mentality…….

Believe it or not, your mind-set on the exam day and 2 days before can easily make or break your JEE Score. Cut off some sleep hours 2 days before exam so that the day before exam, your body naturally forces you to sleep. (Don’t know about you all but I have often experienced some horror insomnia the day before exam). The very last day before your exam, I don’t recommend you’ll to study anything and just focus on brain therapy. Spend some time with your family and friends and do what makes you feel the best. On the D-Day, get yourself pumped up by listening to some motivational songs, have some light fresh food and keep telling yourself how you are the greatest of all. For every bit of anxiety that pops up, soak it all in like Ronaldo (or your favorite athlete :)) does before taking a crucial penalty with all eyes on him.
