JEE Main is a national-level engineering entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India. It is conducted twice a year, in the months of January and April. The exam is a gateway for admission to undergraduate engineering courses in various prestigious institutions in India such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs).The JEE Main 2023 exam is set to be conducted on April 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 15, 2023. Day 1 of the JEE Main 2023 Session 2 exam was completed by the National Testing Agency on April 6, 2023. The first shift exam was conducted from 9 am to 12 noon while the second shift exam was conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm. Thousands of students appeared for the exam. The second session of JEE Main 2023 will take place throughout the coming week. The JEE Main Exam will be held on April 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 15 2023 according to the official exam calendar.

Exam pattern

  • Mode of Examination: Computer-based Test (CBT)
  • Subjects: The exam consists of three subjects – Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
  • Types of Questions: The questions are of multiple-choice type with four options each and Questions with numerical values as answers

Exam Analysis

100% of JEE questions came from Pracbee Lecture notes.Based on the feedback provided by students, it appears that the Chemistry section was moderate to easy, while the Physics section was easy and the Mathematics section was difficult and Lengthy. Overall, the paper was moderate.
  • Chemistry: Organic Chemistry was more as compared to Inorganic and Physical Chemistry. From Physical chemistry few numerical based questions were asked. Block Chemistry had weightage in the paper. p-block, Coordination, Biomolecules, Alcohol, Phenol and Ether, Chemical Bonding, Carboxylic Acids, Electrochemistry, Ionic Equilibrium, Chemical Kinetics, Chemical Equilibrium, Atomic Structure, Aldehydes & Ketones, Amines, Biomolecules, General Organic Chemistry. MCQs were tricky compared to the Numerical Section. According to the student’s memory-based analysis, the level of the Chemistry paper in the JEE second attempt was similar to the first attempt. The student estimated that around 70% of the Chemistry questions were based on NCERT concepts and were either formula-based or directly based on a concept. The majority of the Chemistry problems were covered in the Sarvottam batch’s revision class at Pracbee. The student also observed that the Organic and Inorganic Chemistry questions were relatively simple, while some Physical Chemistry problems required conceptual thinking and decent calculation.
  • Mathematics: Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Probability, Vectors & 3D, Matrices, Determinants, Progressions, Permutation & Combination, Binomial Theorem, Complex Numbers, Differentiation, Definite Integrals, Area under Curves, Parabola & Circle. Both MCQs and Numerical Based questions required lengthy calculations.
  • Physics: According to students XII Physics had more weightage in the paper. Laws of Motion, Rotational Motion, Work Power & Energy, Simple Harmonic Motion, Error Analysis, Capacitance, Magnetism, Semi-Conductors, Current Electricity, Communication Systems, Modern physics, Centre of Mass, Electrostatics. More weightage was given to class XII chapters. The Physics section of the JEE 2nd attempt consisted of 20 questions, with 15 questions from Class XII and 5 questions from Class XI. Most of the questions required a direct application of concepts and formulas, emphasizing the importance of practicing problem-solving skills. Some of the questions were a repetition of concepts asked in the JEE 1st attempt. Three questions were related to percentage change and errors, emphasizing the need for a good understanding of these concepts.
