Union Education Minister has announced the dates of the JEE Advanced 2021 examination.
The exam will be conducted on October 3 this year. The exam was earlier scheduled to be
conducted on July 3 but could not be conducted due to rising covid cases across the country.
The information regarding syllabus and other things were already released by IIT Kharagpur
earlier.
The exam will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur under the guidance of Joint Admission Board
(JAB) for admission into various courses offered by the prestigious IITs. Some other Centrally
Funded Institutes like IISc Bangalore, IIST Thiruvananthapuram, IISERs, RGIPT Raebareli, IIPT
Vishakapatnam have also used JEE Advanced ranks in the past to grant admission to students.
JEE Advanced is conducted in CBT mode and has two papers. Paper 1 is conducted from 9 AM
to 12 PM whereas Paper 2 is conducted from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Both of these papers are
mandatory for the students. The various courses offered by the IITs are:
a. Bachelor of Technology / Science
b. Bachelor of Architecture
c. Dual Degree Programs
d. Integrated Masters Program
The application process for the exam has not begun. Students are advised to regularly visit the
official website of jee advanced to keep themselves updated about the new changes that may
take place. Some of the important information given in the brochure is as follows:

  1. Relaxation in Eligibility Criteria:
Students who were able to successfully register for JEE Advanced 2020 last year but
didn’t appear in the examination i.e. absent in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 are eligible to
appear for JEE Advanced 2021 examination. Such students are required to register for
JEE Advanced 2021 and pay the application fee. To confirm their eligibility, the students
have to visit the website and fill in the requisite information. A Unique Reference Code
will be generated which will be required at the time of registration process.
  2. Supernumerary Seats for Females:
Supernumerary seats were created for females in each IIT following a government
direction in 2017. This year, IITs are given the flexibility to decide the number of
supernumerary seats in each program. However, IITs are required to ensure that there
are at least 20 percent female students under every undergraduate program.
  3. Performance in Board Exam:
The minimum criteria of 75 percent in Class XII board exams is waived off for JEE
Advanced 2021. Students are required to pass the class XII board examinations with five
subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, a language, any subject other than the
    previous four.
