While preparing for JEE Advanced many questions must be going through your mind like how should you prepare, what time table you should follow, which chapters are important for exam. The most important question which arises in mind is how you should prioritize chapters for this exam. In this blog I will be writing important chapters for JEE Advanced, to help you prioritize chapters to get an awesome rank in JEE Advanced exam.

Important chapters for JEE Advanced physics

Physics requires you to have a strong hold on concepts. Once the concepts have been mastered, they are very easy to retain. Some chapters of physics have a heavy weightage in the exam.

  • Electrostatics
  • Magnetic effects of current
  • Electromagnetic induction and alternating current
  • Laws of thermodynamics
  • Photoelectric effect and electromagnetic waves
  • Ray optics
  • Atomic structure in modern physics
  • Properties of matter and fluid mechanics
  • Rotational motion
  • Current electricity
  • Work power energy
  • Center of mass conservation of momentum and collision

Experiments

JEE Advanced also contains problems related to experiments like error analysis in vernier calliper, screw gauge and questions from potentiometer. So practicing questions from these portions are very important to score well in physics.

Important chapters for JEE Advanced chemistry

One must understand that it’s very important to read as much as possible to learn chemistry. Also, revision is very crucial as there is the possibility of forgetting things. Take chemistry as seriously as physics and mathematics. You should take chemistry more seriously because chemistry is a scoring subject for JEE. For chemistry NCERT textbook plays an important role in preparation. Many of the time direct questions appear in JEE from NCERT textbooks.

  • Chemical bonding and molecular structure
  • Coordination compounds
  • P-Block elements
  • General organic chemistry(GOC)
  • Chemical thermodynamics
  • Atomic structure
  • Haloalkanes, Haloarenes and phenols
  • Biomolecules and polymers
  • Electrochemistry
  • Alkanes Alkenes and Alkynes- Hydrocarbons
  •  Alcohols and Ethers
  • Carbonyl compounds- aldehydes and ketones

Weightage is nearly equally distributed in three streams of chemistry: physical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry. One should not skip any topic from inorganic chemistry as the subject is highly scoring.

Important chapters for JEE Advanced mathematics

For mathematics, the more problems you will solve, the better will be your accuracy and speed.

  • Definite integration
  • Continuity and differentiability
  • Parabola
  • Circle
  • Area under curves
  • Sequence and series
  • Differential equation
  • Trigonometry
  • Co-ordinate geometry
  • Vectors
  •   3-Dimentional geometrical system
  • Probability
  • Application of derivatives
  • Complex numbers
  • Matrices and determinants

These are very important chapters for JEE Advanced. If you go through all these chapters properly and solve problems too, then it will be easy to score in the JEE Advanced paper. For preparing these chapters you need to follow reference books along with NCERT textbooks. Some of the good reference books that you may follow are concepts of physics by H C VERMA, fundamentals of physics by HALLIDAY RESNIK, objective mathematics by R D SHARMA, organic chemistry by  O P TONDON, physical chemistry by R K GUPTA.
