books, stack, read

A common question or concern among JEE and NEET aspirants is how they can strengthen their conceptual understanding or concepts for the exam. Having a good conceptual hold of the subject will help you solve even the toughest of the questions by applying the basic fundamental concepts.

Further, if you are good at theory, you can easily connect the dots between various sub-topics of a subject. Like if you are good at the periodic table, inorganic chemistry will be a lot easier for you. Similarly, if you have a good hold on calculus, physics will become like a cakewalk.

In this article, we will explore how students can best strengthen their concepts for JEE.

  • Be attentive during the classes.

If you are attentive during the school and coaching classes, a lot of things will become very easy for you. During the classes, you should best try to understand what the teacher is telling, understand the explanations, and work on the problems or questions that the teacher gives. Further, a good way to be attentive during the classes is to make good notes. But be careful; you should first understand the teacher’s statement and then note it down to keep your brain active on the topic.

Further, when you have a doubt, just ask the teacher. Don’t be shy if you don’t understand simplest of the things. Just get all your doubts cleared to improve your understanding.

  • Prepare short notes

Short notes are different from class notes. These are condensed notes that you prepare from class notes, textbooks, NCERTs, and PYQs. It is the sum total of your understanding of the topic. It’s best to prepare short notes early, as they will help you in revision later. Students sometimes ignore doing it. But this exercise will help you revise the subjects quickly.

  • Give Mocks and practise PYQs.

Always test your understanding by regularly practising PYQs and giving mocks. The PYQs will help you know which facts are regularly asked in the exam and are essential. Further, by analysing your mock tests, you will get to know your mistakes. Once you identify your mistakes, work hard on rectifying them.

  • Don’t go material shopping.

A common problem with many students is that they try to buy as much material as possible. But please don’t overload yourself with study materials; focusing on your coaching materials, NCERTs, PYQs, and mock tests is best. They are more than sufficient to make your AIR 1.

Follow these tips to fine-tune your preparation. All the best for your JEE/NEET!!
