How to secure good marks in Biology in NEET

As you may already know, NEET papers are divided into 180 questions, out of which 90 questions are from biology. Therefore, it represents 50% of the paper, making it the most vital subject for you to prepare. Due to the theoretical nature of these questions, it is easier to score marks in biology than in physics and chemistry.

If any candidate wants to get MBBS seat then they have to score above 320+ in the NEET exam.

To score good marks in biology subject, stick with the NCERT biology books. NCERT should be your Bible. Read class 11th and 12th NCERT line by line. Read every line very carefully. Highlight the important points in books.You might find it difficult to understand and memorize at first but you’ll get used to it eventually.

Make a habit to read NCERT daily. Make a realistic time table in which you should give 2-2: hr to NCERT biology book. For long chapters divide the chapter into parts. And read these parts on a daily basis.

Focus on high weightage chapters

Plant Physiology: In plant physiology, more importance is given to transportation, the Krebs cycle, the Calvin cycle and the hormones chapter.

Division and Cell Biology

Ecology: Nowadays there is a trend that around 10-13 questions come in the exam from the ECOLOGY section.

Morphology of flowering: This chapter puts more focus on floral formulas, diagrams and families of plants.

Biotechnology: Around 4-5 questions come from this section in the exam.

Genetics: Read these chapters from other books. You can go with Truman.

Previous year question paper and mock test

Solve previous years question papers, it will give you an idea about the question asked in the exam. Sometimes questions directly come in the exam for previous years. Join a mock test series and give the test with honesty, mock tests give you an idea about the current scenario of the exam.

Mnemonics

Chapters like the Plant Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Morphology of Flowering Plants, etc contain hundreds of examples. Create your funny mnemonics (get creative!) whenever you’re having a problem remembering them.

Notes

Make note of your weak areas in the chapter, underline them and jot them down on the front page of the chapter. So that next time you visit the chapter, you focus on revising them first and then solving all MCQs on it
