We usually come across a situation where we are aware of how important a particular task is for us and yet some of us push it to the deadlines. We comfort ourselves by saying things like, “ I will do this tomorrow” or “ Currently I have a lot of time for it”. If you feel like you too are doing similar things then you have also developed the tendency of putting your task work for later or more appropriately you have become a procatinator (or you might be in the process of being one).

When you are preparing for an exam like JEE for which immense of hardwork and time is required, you come across this more often. In beginning you feel like you have a lot of days of maybe years for preparation and you start taking things lightely. While learnig, you might come across a situation where you are trying to understand a certain thing but are unable to do that. And hence you decide to close your books and tell yourself that you have a lot of time. But the reality is beginning is the most important phase of any preparation as the amount of time you give then which develop your interest in the preparation. And if you lose a grip on your preparation, you might not be able to get a hold of it and until you realise that you are lagging behind, it can be very late.

The cause of this might be lack of motivation and required action. You need to realise that there is no harm in doing more. The more efforts you put in, the better you get. If you don’t understand a particular question or topic don’t waste your time just staring at it. You should either look for solution from somewhere or someone without wasting time and/or move to some other topic. This will help you in building the momentum. You need to keep something as the best way to get something done is to do Some Thing.

Eliminating Procastination

  • Interospect: interospect within and analyse the cause of your procastination.
  • Set Target: Define both short term and long term targets and also treat yourself for achieving any of those. This will boost your confidence and keep you motivated.
  • Avoid getting affected by others marks or progress. Just keep working hard and in your set direction and things will eventually fall in right place.
  • Develop a schedule: plan your activities beforehand and allot a dedicated time for your studies. Never compromise on that unless it is very important.
  • Adopt various strategies to train your mind and increase concentration power.

And, never forget why you started. Keep reminding yourself of your goals and aspirations. Why you chose to prepare for JEE? This will help you to remain motivated and work harder for your goals.
