Class 10th CBSE Board Exams are expected to be held later than usual in 2021. The Central Board of Secondary Education conducts the exam for all the affiliated schools and for the students who have filled their forms for private. With less than 4 months left for the exam, students should start focusing more on their preparations. Although the Board will be maintaining all the social distancing norms, in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, students are also required to take the necessary measures while giving the exam for others and their own safety. Along with these, students must also be aware of the exam pattern updated as per the latest syllabus before going for the exam. With this article, we are trying to help the students ace the Maths exam of class 10th Board. The details regarding both the Basic and the Standard Maths Exams will be provided in this article which will help and increase your chances of scoring high in the Maths examination.

Following is the chapter-wise weightage of the Maths Exam:

The distribution mentioned above is applicable for both the Standard Maths and the Basic Maths exams. The question paper format of both the Basic Mathematics and Standard Mathematics will be discussed below.

There will be a total of 36 questions in the exam which is divided into 2 parts as Part A and Part B. Both parts will be having internal choices. Part A will be having two sections out of which Section 1 will be having 16 questions of one mark each. The internal choice will be provided in 5 questions under this section. Section 2 of this part will be having 4 case study based questions. Each of the case studies will have 5 subparts out of which a candidate will have to attempt any 4.

Part B will consist of questions from question no. 21 to 36. The first section of this part will be of very short answer type questions that carry 2 marks each. There will be 6 questions in total under this section. The next section will be of short answer type questions carrying 3 marks each. The total number of short answer type questions will be 7. The last section will be of the long answer type questions. The long answer type questions will be carrying 5 marks each and there will be a total of 3 questions of this type. The internal choice in part B will be as follows:

  • 2 questions in a Very Short Answer type questions
  • 2 questions in Short Answer type questions
  • 1 question in Long Answer type question

The students having the option to choose among the Basic and the Standard Maths must have a clear idea of the level of difficulty one will be facing during the exam. The other thing to note is that this year CBSE might not have Multiple Choice Questions. Also, the case study based questions will be new for the candidates so they must be well prepared with this section.
